FEST — The Future of Film

FEST — The Future of Film online conference takes place next week, 19th – 23rd of July, with a roundtable of top-of-the-line industry speakers ready to discuss the immediate future of the film industry. Attendance is free of charge.

The conference will happen throughout 4 days, divided into two categories:

First, the “FUTURE” conferences will be held 19th and 20th of July, and will cover topics such as “The future of theatrical and independent cinema”, “Artificial Intelligence in Film”, “Virtual Production” and “Blockchain technology”. Some of the confirmed speakers are EPIC GAMES Virtual Production Producer Jamie Mossahebi, Variety reporter Martin Dale, and the founders of FILMCHAIN.

Then, the “PRESENT” conferences will take place on the 22nd and 23rd of July. They will relate to more immediate topics, like the New Creative Europe Programme 2021 – 2027, and the collapse of the distribution windows & their effect on theatres. Some of the confirmed speakers are screenwriter Jon Croker (“Paddington 2”), film editor Melody London, (“Mystery Train”, “Down by Law”), and Nuno Fonseca, from the Portuguese Film Institute (ICA).

Systemic changes were already taking place in the film ecosystem before the pandemic, however they have been greatly accelerated. What is the future of film? Cinema theaters are expected to play a different role, but which, exactly?

Blockchain technology has the potential to revolutionize the film industry. What will be its impact on film distribution and financing?

With Irina Albita, FilmChain co-founder, Sam Klebanov, Cinezen CEO, and Florian Glatz, president of the German Blockchain Association | Moderated by Jorge Pereira, Journalist.
