FEST 2023 is already being prepared at full speed and the film submissions keep on growing. But our thirst for new films is endless and now we would like to point out that we are also looking for films focused on younger audiences, for our FESTinha Competition.
Divided in under 10, under 12; and under 16 sub-categories, the section aims to stimulate and develop younger audiences for film. A group of young juries from each sub-category will go through a workshop process to decide who are the three big winners.
So we are looking for short films in all formats, appropriate for these age categories.
You can submit films using one of several options:
The regular deadline for film submissions is the 9th of March, 2023.
The submission fees value for our 2023 edition are:
Regular Period – 8€ (Short Films)
Regular Period – 12€ (Feature Films)
Extended Period – 12€ (Short Films)
Extended Period – 16€ (Feature Films)
FEST 2023 will take place between the 19th and the 26th of June 2023, in Espinho, Portugal.

Since its establishment in 2004, FEST — New Directors, New Films Festival has quickly become one of the leading platforms for international film professionals, emerging and established alike, to come together to present their work, exchange knowledge, network and collaborate.
Set in the coastal resort town of Espinho, Portugal, FEST presents film competitions, masterclasses and workshops, a Pitching Forum and more, featuring the biggest names in world cinema.
Join us at the 19th edition of FEST, from June 19th to the 26th, 2023. The program features:
Film Screenings – 8 competitive and non-competitive sections, more than 200 films and Q&A’s;
TG – over 30 masterclasses, workshops and ateliers with top industry experts;
Pitching Forum – pitch training and project development; pitching sessions;
FEST Nights – festival parties every night.
We are accepting films under the following formats:
A) Fiction and non-fiction feature films from directors who are on their first or second feature-length project, regardless of age.
B) Fiction, Documentary, Animation, and Experimental Short films from directors who have completed no more than two feature films, regardless of age.
Submissions will only be considered complete and valid after the confirmation of the payment of each specific period.
